I’m taking a course in molecular biology right now, and so I’m trying to learn the structures and chemistry of the 20 basic amino acids. Here are a couple of links that I have found to be helpful (maybe they’ll be helpful to someone else too!) :
- A powerpoint tutorial on how the different amino acids relate to each other
- An online quiz with helpful models of the different molecules (flash).
Update:
A couple more links:
- A webpage with a couple of quizzes and summary of the different amino acids (although these differ a little from the others I’ve seen so far, in that they are shown “upside down”, with the functional group on top).
- About.com article on the different groups of amino acids (according to the nature of their side chains)
